In the next 10 months, more than seven thousand crore will be needed to cope with the Rohingya crisis. Concerns about providing such a huge amount of money, as well as worrying about the risks of the security of Bangladesh.
In the Dialogue organized by the Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) on Saturday, the country's leading economists and diplomats raised such views.
Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque said, Bangladesh is preparing a draft agreement to resolve the issue with Myanmar in a bilateral manner.
Brigadier Shakhawat, a security analyst, has found that Burmese has now taken the opportunity of being humanitarian in Bangladesh to take away Rohingya from their own country. He said, 'Rohingya, whatever name you call, they have become an interesting part now. Myanmar now tells the Rohingya that you go to Bangladesh, where the whole world is giving money, food and shelter to Rohingyas. Many Rohingya are coming to Bangladesh on this issue. That is, it is not a push factor now, it is working as a pool factor, which is visible. '
Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque said, no third country has agreed to take a Rohingya even till now.
The dialogue has emerged, as many Rohingyas enter Bangladesh, it will require seven thousand 126 million taka for the next 10 months, which is 2.18 percent of the national budget. It can be assumed that this money comes from abroad. But the calculation says that one-third of all the allocations that have been sought by the international community on the Rohingya issue are yet to be found. When this situation, then the prominent economist and Dr. Whether the problem of Rehman Sobhan will be resolved quickly or not.
Dr. Rehman Sobhan said that everything left for Rohingyas in Myanmar has been confiscated for land, crops and property. That is, all possible arrangements have been taken so that the Rohingyas can not go back. That is, it has long-term effects. Recent history also shows that those who were deported from the country could not return to the country. In spite of this, the support of the international community has to support the victims. Therefore, keeping the matter in mind about the Rohingyas, the next task will be to decide.
Diplomats said that not only economic matters, but also due to Myanmar, Bangladesh has fallen into a major security risk.
Former diplomat Faruk Sobhan said there is a possible threat to Rohingyas. This threat is inside and outside the country. The militant IS is now calling for Rohingyas to jihad in Rakhine. Such steps have now become the number one agenda for them now, as the IS itself has been deported from Syria and Iraq.
The Foreign Secretary said, Bangladesh has kept all the way open to solve the problem. He said, 'We still believe in peaceful solution. We are trying to bilaterally with Myanmar to this end. But I am also trying to internationally. "But if the bilateral solution is not resolved then Bangladesh will work with alternate arrangements, which do not elaborate for strategic reasons, the Foreign Secretary said.
