Bangladesh and Myanmar seek solutions to the Rohingya problem in bilateral and peaceful ways. The country has agreed to form a joint working group with Bangladesh to take Rohingyas to Rakhine. Bangladesh has drafted an agreement with Myanmar to fix a long-term solution to this problem.
These talks were discussed with the Foreign Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali in Dhaka on Monday on the return of Rohingya to Myanmar State Counselor's Office of Minister of State Hillary Clinton. According to diplomatic sources, Myanmar's position has been somewhat flexible under global pressure.
Myanmar has offered to take back Rohingyaas coming to Bangladesh yesterday. But Bangladesh says, since 1992, more than 9 lakh Rohingya people will have to take refuge. Although Myanmar said about 6 lakh Rohingya and registered 2,541 refugees coming back from October this year since October last year.
Meanwhile, Myanmar's Social Welfare, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister, Win Miyat Aay said that taking refuge from Bangladesh is the main priority for them now. He said this in a meeting with the Executive Committee of the United Nations Refugee Agency yesterday in Geneva, Switzerland.
After the attack in Rakhine border guards in October last year, Myanmar security forces began to destroy the Rohingyas. From then until June this year, at least 87 thousand Rohingya Muslims fled to Bangladesh. In January this year Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi Special Envoy Chao Tin and the National Security Adviser Thong Tun came to Bangladesh in July. However, Myanmar representatives did not come up with any strong proposal in the two talks. But after the Myanmar military operation in Rakhine on August 25, after a three-point discussion with the United Nations Security Council, various countries and alliances have strongly protested against it. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, along with the United Nations Human Rights Council, called the campaign "ethnic cleansing". Myanmar is experiencing pressure on the Rohingya problem due to international public opinion. Because of this pressure, the country has changed its position somewhat.
Mahmood Ali told reporters after the meeting in the capital's state guest house Padma, "Myanmar offered to withdraw Rohingya refugees. Two parties have agreed to form a joint working group for overall supervision of the repatriation process. Discuss the structure of the structure will be fixed. We have given a draft of the bilateral agreement to assist in the process of repatriation.
The Foreign Minister said there was fruitful discussions about border and security cooperation. Bangladesh reiterates zero tolerance policy against terrorism. Home Minister will go to Myanmar very soon. Both sides want to solve the Rohingya problem by peaceful means.
Asked when the Joint Working Group (JWG) work will start and how long it will end, the foreign minister said, the two sides agreed to form the Joint Working Group. The two parties will give their representatives names. But it will be very soon.
The United Nations is not affiliated
The JWG is being formed in the process of sending Rohingyas back to Rakhine, the UN will not be there. When asked about this yesterday, Foreign Minister Mahmud Ali has clearly said that the United Nations is not coming in it.
Talking to officials present in the meeting yesterday, Chint Soey said that the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) has the negative attitude of the people of Myanmar regarding the UN agencies. The Myanmar minister is talking about adding big red crosses in this regard.
Considering the village name
Myanmar has always been saying that Rohingyas are going to take back their citizenship before returning to Rakhine. So far, the number of 2,415 registered citizens of refugee refugees has been finalized. Therefore, they will not be asked to re-evaluate their return. The question is getting swiftly - the number of more than 5 million people coming to the country and the issue of 87 thousand Rohingya citizenship will be addressed after the October 2016 violence. Myanmar has said that the people who fled the country will continue to be named after their village. In response to this, Bangladesh questions, where the villages are destroyed, their address will come from where? Myanmar said that the names of villages and villages will be named. That is enough to prove that they are the residents of Rakhine.
Maungdaw Population
Myanmar offered to return the Rohingyas, but they are now talking about people coming from October to August. With the addition of 2,5155 Rohingya refugees who have been finalized, the Rohingya refugees But the clear position of Bangladesh is only 2,5155 refugees, and Rohingya is not coming from October to August, but all of the 9 lakh Rohingya people who have taken shelter after 1992 are to be withdrawn. Myanmar says after this position in Bangladesh, the newcomers will be brought back to the beginning. Later the old people will be taken back after the verification. At one stage of discussion, Bangladesh wants to know about the population of different areas of Rakhine. Referring to Maungdaw of North Rakhain, Myanmar representative said there were about 6 lakh settlements, 90 percent of whom were Rohingya.
Diplomats in 'phantom town'
