The future of the Champions Trophy is a great future for England and Wales. ICC Chief Executive Dave Richardson said the Supreme Cricket Association wants to stay in the Twenty20 World Cup after closing the Champions Trophy two years later. This idea has emerged from within the ICC. Many believe that the Champions Trophy is a contest similar to the one-day World Cup. The one-day World Cup will be played in 2010 with 10 teams. So it seems to be very different for organizing 8 teams' Champions Trophy. The next Champions Trophy in 2021 will be held in India.Richardson said that in the future, Twenty20 World Cup will be held with 20 teams, "We want ICC contests different from each other. People can understand the difference. This will allow each competition to create interest among the audience separately. It is also thought to be upgraded from 16 teams to 20 teams in the T20 World Cup.Since the commercial point of view, Twenty20 cricket is much more profitable, the Champions Trophy is moving away from the ICC's interest. Richardson said, "It is true that T-20 cricket is creating a lot of interest. It is also a great advantage for television broadcasts. However, we think that T-Twenty cricket will bring many many countries to cricket.
